- <p> After spending five years on her chef d'oeuvre, The Way to
- Cook, Julia Child, 77, says it could be her last. Maybe so, but
- it's also big -- big enough (5 1/2 lbs., 511 pages) to require
- a sous chef merely to hold it up for the cook. Admirers will be
- delighted to discover that the $50 book isn't restricted to
- haute cuisine but gives full consideration to humble fare like
- meat loaf. Child wants people to stop messing around with so
- many dietary notions. That fretting about fiber, for instance.
- That's why, she says, "there are all those diarrhea
- commercials."
